Baldur’s Gate 3 will not be on Game Pass, the game deserves fair compensation – Sven Vincke

Baldur’s Gate 3 is already available on Xbox, but don’t expect the game on Game Pass – it will never be there. In an interview with IGN about the creation of Baldur’s Gate 3, Larian Studios founder Sven Vincke explained why Baldur’s Gate 3 will only be sold at full price.

‘We’ve always said, right from the start, that it won’t be on Game Pass.’

Vincke noted that Larian Studios created a high-quality, large game without microtransactions and demands fair compensation:

‘We’ve made a big game, so I think it’s fair to pay a fair price for it, and I think that’s fine. Besides, we don’t charge for microtransactions, so you get what you pay for. There’s a big meaty game ahead. So, I think it should exist as it is. This is what allows us to continue creating other games.’

It can only be stated that Vincke has the right to say this. According to reviewers’ experience, one playthrough of Baldur’s Gate 3 can take about 150 hours. Many play several times, trying different walkthrough options, character upgrades, and the luck of the dice roll, which significantly affects subsequent events.

Vincke’s firm stance against placing Baldur’s Gate 3 on Game Pass can be compared to Bethesda’s attitude towards Starfield, which was available in the subscription right away. Since its launch, which brought in significant profit, Starfield has received many complaints, some users, including in ITC comments, discourage others from purchasing the game, so Game Pass might prove beneficial for it.”
