Alan Wake 2 has sold 1.3 million copies since release

A few months after the release of Alan Wake 2, Remedy Entertainment has announced the sales of the thriller. The Finnish studio’s title sold 1.3 million copies worldwide. The game broke the mark of 1 million by the end of December, and another 300 thousand – in early February.

The developers reported that Alan Wake 2 is the fastest selling Remedy game. By comparison, it sold 50% more copies in the first two months than Control did in the first four months.

Remedy said Control’s current print run is more than 4 million copies. The company expects Alan Wake 2 to be profitable for several years as well. For this purpose, the studio will prepare promotions and release DLC – two will be released this year.

Remedy head Tero Virtala said that the company is pleased with the sales of Alan Wake 2. He noted that the game has already recouped a significant part of the marketing and production budgets.

We will continue to develop the game to satisfy existing fans and attract new players, and expect the game to continue to sell well.

The successful launch of Alan Wake 2 has supported our other game projects, with Condor, Control 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake ramping up development thanks to staff released after the release of Alan Wake 2. We expect these projects to reach their next stages of development in the first half of 2024.

We now have two established franchises, Control and Alan Wake, which are tied together by the Remedy Connected Universe. The development and expansion of these franchises will be a key part of our future.

Alan Wake 2 will be released in October 2023 on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. Remedy’s game won three statuettes at The Game Awards 2023: Narrative, Game Direction, and Art Direction
