New details of extraction shooter Exoborne from the creators of The Division

The authors of EDGE magazine in the latest issue revealed details of the extraction-shooter Exoborne from Sharkmob, the team of which includes the developers of the original The Division. The journalists showed the gameplay behind closed doors.

The main part of the material was cited by the portal MP1st:

  • The game is set in the town of Colton in the southeastern United States – the developers chose the region because of the variety of locations, as well as the opportunity to experiment with pop culture, movies and more
  • The developers say that Exoborne will have a story campaign, but they are much more interested in hearing the stories that players will create; the universe will be revealed through notes, audio recordings, photos and communication with NPCs.
  • Exoborne players will wear exo-suits that offer different styles of play but also synergize between squad members; for example, one suit allows you to play aggressively but shield your teammates.
  • Movement will be an important part of gameplay, so the developers will add at least a cat hook
  • Over 300 people are working on Exoborne – these are both newcomers and all the creators of Bloodhunt
  • The number of players on the map will vary depending on the size of locations
  • The key mechanics will be weather – according to the developers, it makes each outing unique and, at times, can severely spoil the game session; storms and hurricanes are expected from inclement weather.
  • Natural disasters help in the gameplay – for example, due to them a player with a shotgun can reduce the distance to the sniper; there can also be fights in the air, if the hurricane picks up the players.
  • There will be no upgrades in Exoborne – since it is an extraction-shooter, the whole focus is on equipment; players will receive crafting parts, blueprints, and other rewards as a result of their missions.
  • There is a PvE element to the game, but at the core it’s a PvP experience
  • Quests will be categorized as single player, team-based; there will also be public events with a large number of players involved

Exoborne was announced at this past The Game Awards. The game doesn’t have an exact release date. The title will be released on PC and consoles. The game is announced to have Russian language support on Steam.
