Just before the release of The Last of Us Part II remaster, Naughty Dog released a trailer of Grounded II documentary. In it developers and actors will tell what they had to go through to release the sequel.

Developing The Last of Us Part II wasn’t easy. The staff was pressured by the resounding success of the first part, the coronavirus pandemic broke out, and in April 2020 the most important plot points of the game were leaked to the Net.

In addition, the coronavirus did not only prevent the studio from working in offices. Developers, marketers, and everyone at Naughty Dog and Sony were asking themselves: “Will people want to play a game about the aftermath of a fictional pandemic when they have a real one outside their window?”.

The trailer also promises that the developers will reveal how Joel’s fate was decided and whether there were other options for the story.

The documentary doesn’t have a release date yet, but The Last of Us Part II remaster comes out as early as January 19 on PlayStation 5.
