Critics met Tekken 8 fighting game with rave reviews and rated it higher than Mortal Kombat 1

The press shared their reviews and evaluations of Tekken 8. The fighting game will be released on January 26 on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series, and now you can watch the release trailer and try the demo on all platforms.

Tekken 8 received the following ratings:

90 points – Opencritic, recommended by 98% of reviewers (based on 41 reviews);
90 points – Metacritic, PlayStation 5 version (based on 42 reviews);
86 points – Metacritic, Xbox Series version (based on 15 reviews);
93 points – Metacritic, PC version (based on 9 reviews).

Journalists agreed that Tekken 8 was a great continuation of the famous fighting game series. This was due to the rich set of characters (including two new ones), a lot of modes and convenience for those who like to fight online.

IGN journalist praised the new Arcade Quest mode. It imitates the spirit of arcade halls: players create their own virtual avatar and go through different locations, gradually learning all the mechanics of Tekken 8. There is also a lot of content offered by the story mode, the cascenes in which take about three or four hours. The developers devoted time to important characters, and even newcomers to the series will be able to understand the story itself.

GameSpot called the Heat system, which can be activated once per round, an exciting addition to the combat mechanics. At the same time, each of the 32 fighters requires a special approach: you need to learn their techniques and think about tactics, how to fight correctly. But the stories of these fighters did not make the journalist excited, though he appreciated the quality of cutscenes and single-player content.

Eurogamer also noted the wide variety of fighters, which has not been seen in other recent fighting games. Each of them “plays so differently” that the journalist had a hard time deciding who to play. Also, the reviewer managed to play with his “ghost”. A virtual copy of the player learned his favorite combination and repeated the style of combat. You can fight with other players’ “ghosts” in the same way.

Earlier, the developers at Bandai Namco showed off a story trailer, and actor Brian Cox retold the history of the series, where he paid special attention to the Mishima family. It includes the adopted Li Chaolan, who recently received his own trailer.
