Baldur’s Gate 3 speedrun record broken: less than 20 minutes with the help of flying invisible bear

Baldur’s Gate 3’s speedruns serve as an entertaining pastime even when they don’t put up rewards, but the latest achievement was getting through all the acts in under 20 minutes. In doing so, the boss Keterik Torm fell from a single hit from a flying bear.

The community has been giving out plenty of fun videos: the record-breaking completion of Honor Mode in 40 minutes, an express romance with Laezel, and best of all, quick sex with Halsin the bear. The latest record-breaking wound also involves bears.

Speedrunner Mae became the first person to manage to fly through all of Baldur’s Gate 3’s acts in under 20 minutes. Amusingly, Mae revealed on his Discord that he first accomplished this achievement off-the-record at AGDQ 2024, after which he decided to “just do it again.”

The re-run took 19 minutes and 20 seconds. The highlight is the battle with boss Keterik at the end of the second act, where he is killed by a single hit from a flying invisible bear. By turning Shadowheart into a bear through the beast guise and making her invisible, Mae aims this furry sidekick straight at Torm.

How does it work? As Mae himself demonstrated at AGDQ, there’s an exploit at work here that combines the massive damage of the bear strike with the bonus of a surprise attack from stealth.

Honestly, you can’t blame poor Keterik for not expecting a huge invisible beast to come down on him. And not once, but twice in a row!
