An artist has revealed a new concept for the God of War remake on Unreal Engine 5 with ray tracing

Digital artist and youtuber Teaserplay, known for various other concept videos on UE5, has unveiled a new video showcasing his vision for the original game.

This concept video shows Kratos from 2005’s God of War in ancient Greece. The video utilizes Epic’s Nanite and Lumen technologies, ray tracing and path tracing. The result is impressive, although there are some oddities in Kratos’ model.

Fans of the original God of War games would definitely like to see a remake with a “younger” Kratos, and this fan concept gives a glimpse of what such a game could look like. However, the chances of us ever seeing official remakes of the original games are slim. Plus, this fan work uses an engine from Epic, while Santa Monica Studios uses their own.

Released in 2005 on the PlayStation 2, God of War was one of the best-looking games for that system at the time of its release. Over 4.6 million copies of the game were sold worldwide.
