Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown did not disappoint critics – first estimates of the new Prince of Persia

Despite the negative reaction of fans of the series who first saw the metroidvania Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown, the game from Ubisoft Montpellier turned out to be at least good. This is evidenced by reviews of the foreign press.

Metacritic has collected more than 100 reviews of Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown with a rating from 84% (PC) to 89% (Switch).

On OpenCritic, the picture is similar – 86% (the game is recommended by 93% of critics) and more than 70 reviews.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown became the first game in the series in almost 14 years. According to journalists, it was worth the wait, but it does not claim to be a great novelty. Reviewers were pleased with the exciting mix of combat, platforming, and puzzles, the dynamic combat system, the interesting world, the variety of enemies, the large number of accessibility settings, and the absence of performance issues.

The project’s disadvantages include a slow start, gameplay that runs out of steam closer to the ending, a cliché-filled plot (although some reviewers liked it), sudden jumps in difficulty, and a lack of innovation. Critics concluded that Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown turned out to be a bit long and not very innovative, but still a great metro-adventure for fans of the genre and vivid adventures.

Prince of Persia: The Lost Crown will go on sale on January 18 for PC (Ubisoft Connect, EGS), PS4, PS5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, S, and Nintendo Switch. A free demo is available on all target platforms along with reviews.
