The Game Awards creator and host Geoff Keighley shared statistics from the ceremony, which took place on December 8. The anniversary show broke the record for the number of viewers.
- TGA 2023 became the most popular in the history of the ceremony – 118 million people joined the broadcast from all over the world. This is 15% more than a year earlier. The number of views continues to grow: in 2020 the broadcast gathered 83 million views, in 2021 already 85 million, and in 2022 – 103 million.
- The number of simultaneous viewers of the official broadcast on YouTube exceeded 900 thousand – a 53% jump compared to last year. If you add up the restreams as well, there were 1.7 million people at the peak, which is 35% higher than in 2022. The TGA was covered by 4,000 channels on YouTube.
- On Twitch, the ceremony was restreamed 24% more actively – more than 13.7 thousand people. The maximum number of simultaneous viewers broke the bar of 1.94 million people, which is 10% higher than the previous year.
Baldur’s Gate III won the most awards at The Game Awards 2023 with 6 statuettes, including one for Game of the Year. Although the production level of the ceremony remained high, the audience criticized it because of the unequal distribution of time. Winners were given only 30 seconds on stage, while guest stars were allowed to go off-script and linger at the microphone.
