The goal of the game is simple: to clean all the dusty, dirty and rusty objects on the level to a shine. There is no time limit – you can work for half an hour or five. When you’re done, you get money that you can spend on a more powerful power washer, as well as attachments and modifications for it. Powerwash Simulator does not force the player to spend several minutes cleaning a board in a fence. With the right tools, even the dirtiest surfaces can be cleaned in a few seconds. For example, a 15-degree nozzle is effective against mould and rust, and a wide 45-degree nozzle is effective against a thin layer of dirt. Those who like realism can adjust the water supply by pressing a button. But I decided to spare my finger and turned on the automatic mode so that the pressure was constant. You don’t have to look for dirty areas yourself either: after pressing it, the game will highlight in orange what needs to be cleaned. The first and easiest task is in the garage. Our weapon is a washing machine that delivers a high-pressure jet and cleans any surface. The enemy is a dirty van raised from the bottom of a pond.

I washed the bumper, wheels and windows of the van in just five minutes, and spent the same amount of time on the roof. Finally, I looked around the garage and knocked the tools and the garden gnome off the table with a jet. This did not affect anything – only static objects can be cleaned in the game. Only 10 minutes had passed, and I was already well rested. I immediately wanted to wash something else.

Overcoming the first challenges

I hoped in vain that I would be able to continue to carry out simple jobs. In my second job, I was instructed to clean a huge garden plot. Fences, swings, and even the bottom of an artificial pond. The leap in complexity, in my opinion, is too great. If I were the creators, I would entrust the players with something simpler, because the sight of a huge dirty area causes panic at first. But once you’ve called yourself a cleaner, you have to pick up the hose and work.

At first, I cleaned the area just like the van: I directed the hose haphazardly and didn’t think about how to save time. After half an hour, I realised that I hadn’t cleaned enough and decided to change my tactics. I wasn’t satisfied with the speed of my work, and I didn’t want to change my tactics. I went into the menu to see what the developers had come up with for this case. It turned out that the game has a shop with hose nozzles, cleaning products and customisation items. For example, you can buy a multi-coloured protective suit and become the most fashionable cleaner in the neighbourhood. However, it will take all your salary. Moreover, you will only see the suit on the side after the mission is completed, in the cleaning record.

The money in my wallet would have been enough for only two or three car washes

I didn’t need gloves and suits. I bought detergents for stone, plastic and wood. The bottles ran out quickly, but they made it much easier to clean the surfaces. This purchase helped me to finally get into the game. Unnecessary thoughts went aside, and the smallest achievements brought me joy. I cleaned the shed, the kennels and the swing, and the garden immediately became a pleasure to look at. I worked for another hour, and then I saw that I had cleaned only half of the plot. Even the solutions didn’t help much, but there were still fences and a pond to clean. It’s a shame that the game gives such difficult tasks to novice cleaners.

I was getting a little bored when the game offered to switch from the main task to an additional one. It was removed because I had laundered a large part of the location. You can start a side mission at any time, and your progress on the main mission will be saved. This time, I was called by the owner of a motorbike. I cleaned it in five minutes, and for the $90 I earned, I bought a special buttstock for washing. It increased the length of the jet, so I no longer had to constantly walk around the site while working. I returned to the garden plot with a brand new butt. But the work didn’t go any faster. I had run out of cleaning products, so I had to wash the stubborn stains on the bottom of the pond with a thin stream of plain water. I fiddled around for a few more minutes and then returned to the extra levels. In the “Special Missions” section, you have to clean unusual objects. For example, a rusty 19th century steam locomotive. But I put it aside for later – for the sake of the rover, which can be cleaned right on Mars. The change of scenery helped me take a break from the boring garden. I did it in just 10 minutes.

The gravity on Mars is low. If you jump high, you fall for a long time. But you won’t need to jump in this task – you can clean the rover while standing.

After two side tasks, I finally cleaned the ill-fated garden plot. The bottom of the pond and the fences took the most time, and I spent two hours in total. Fortunately, I am paid for the result. So I got my honestly earned $450 and went on to the next mission. Impressions from the second stage. I cleaned the motorbike, the rover and the garden plot and started to have real fun. But first I had to overcome myself.

Become a master of the game and a guru of cleaning

The new goal is a house with a garage. The residents had managed to stain the roof, the windows, and even the area around it. On the third mission, I finally realised that washing had become a pleasant routine for me. Nothing annoys or distracts me. You fulfil a single purpose – how you want and for as long as you want. You can even do without cleaning products and hose modifications. You can wash everything with the starter sink. The background sounds are also relaxing. There is no music in the game, but you can listen to the sound of drops. However, I soon got bored with the silence. Then I turned on a podcast in the background and continued working.

It turned out that the Powerwash Simulator is ideal for keeping your hands busy. No unnecessary thoughts come into your head – you can sit back and listen to the presenters. Most likely, the game will be perfect for those who do not perceive information well if they are not doing anything. Impressions from the third stage. What we liked and disliked about Powerwash Simulator

I’m tired of washing large areas – it’s hard to see small spots in doors, gutters, and cracks between the wall and the roof of the house. With light surfaces, even the illumination of unwashed areas does not help. At the end of one of the tasks, I spent 20 minutes looking for a speck on the fence. It’s a bit annoying, but not annoying – you get used to it over time. It is better to play with breaks – at first it seems that you can spend at least half a day in Powerwash Simulator. You can walk around the site and operate the sink. In fact, a four-hour run was enough for me. I will return to the game only in a couple of weeks, when I miss the country hose again.

Side missions and new modes helped to take a break from the main task. The game has speed challenges and co-op for six players. You can clean up areas and have a heart-to-heart chat with your friends.
