How old are Kratos and Atreus in God of War Ragnarok?

We reveal how old Kratos and Atreus are in God of War Ragnarok.

In the last installment of God of War, we were introduced to a very successful father-son duo, Kratos and Atreus. We followed their rapprochement, the development of their relationship, empathized with them and were inspired by their exploits. All of this continued in God of War Ragnarok, where Atreus, judging by the story, came of age and gained more freedom from his stern father. But just how old is Atreus? And Kratos? Let’s answer those questions now.

How old is Kratos in God of War Ragnarok?

Let’s start with Kratos. The developers do not mention his real age, so you have to calculate it yourself. This is quite a difficult task, because this character destroyed the Greek gods long before the Scandinavian mythology described in the game was born.

Fans have calculated that between the third part of the series and the new God of War 2018, at least a thousand years have passed. At the time of the third installment, the hero was about fifty years old, taking into account his career in the army and other events. And three years passed between God of War and God of War Ragnarok. Hence, Kratos is at least 1050 years old, to which we can add a couple more (or subtract, given the possible margin of error).

As for Atreus, he’s a bit more complicated. His age was never mentioned once in God of War. However, in some sources related to the game’s lore, the figure of 11 years old was mentioned. Which is quite consistent with the appearance of the hero in the last part. Considering that at the time of God of War Ragnarok three more years have passed, Atreus should be 14 years old. This age can be considered as an adulthood, because in Viking times boys became men much earlier than now.
